Preliminary remarks
- these last years have seen a great diffusion of ADs;
- many structures use the definition of ADs ,but do not classify for this typology of hospitality;
- Prof. Giancarlo Dall'Ara has elaborated a model of AD that informs the official body of regulation on the matter.
Characteristics of the AD model
- joint management;
- presence of common areas for the hotel guests;
- offer of hotel services (reception, breakfast, cleaning…) and assistance for the guests;
- presence of a hosting community;
- integration in the territory and in its culture;
- honest environment;
- reasonable distance between guest units and common areas.
The Association's Mission
- To promote and to foster the development of ADs in Italy, protecting their image and reputation in the eyes of public institutions, the press, intermediaries and the tourists' demand.
The Association's Objectives
- to practise lobbying activities with the institutions and to promote funding projects;
- to promote cultural exchange and best practices amongst the members;
- to promote training activities;
- to promote ADs through the media;
- to publish an official guide for ADs;
- to promote the partner hotels on the Internet and in the other media.
Membership advantages
- protection of ADs' image;
- business presence in the target markets;
- greater visibility and notoriety on the Internet;
- greater clients' fidelisation;
- business and marketing support from ADI;
- growth of the tourist demand created through the Internet;
- professional growth through training and exchange activities.
The AD Decalogue
- the guest units have to be located not farther than 300 meters from the common areas;
- guest reception and assistance have to be guaranteed for at least 14 hours a day;
- the rooms have to be comfortable and welcoming, in line with the town/village context;
- informative material on the surrounding areas and on the other ADs has to be present in the rooms;
- ADs have to promote recreational, sports and cultural activities for their clients;
- breakfast has to be guaranteed in the morning, possibly in common areas;
- the use of bicycles or other transportation means has to be guaranteed to the guests, free of charge, in order to reach the area's main tourist sites;
- restaurant services have to be guaranteed to the guests inside or outside the main structure;
- organisation of evening an entertaining activities;
- ADs have to possess a unique and personalised atmosphere.
Membership modalities
- all the ADs can become members of ADI, as long as they respect the Decalogue;
- to become members, hotels need to be part of CCIAA;
- the annual minimum membership fee is 250 euros;
- the marketing fee will be decided yearly according to the promotional programme and will always be referred to the promotional and marketing activities that ADI will enact for each member hotel;
- membership is annual.
